The National Championships week is the event for everyone, 63 classes available!
Entries have opened for the 2018 BMX Australia National Championships and 2018 UCI Oceania Continental Championships today, with both events to be held at the Bunbury BMX Club between March 19-25 next year.
The event returns to Western Australia for the first time since 2009, with Bunbury announced as the host club in August of this year. The event also marks the beginning of a partnership between BMX Australia and the WA State Government, through Tourism WA and the City of Bunbury.
With more than 2,000 interstate competitors and supporters expected to attend, BMX is set to be a feature act in Bunbury next March. From five-year-old’s to 30+ Masters, elite riders to Cruiser shredders, the national championship week is the event for everyone.
A draft schedule for the event has also been released, which mirrors the successful format employed in 2017. The only new addition is the UCI Oceania Continental Championships on the first official day of racing. The draft schedule is as follows.
Monday March 19: Practice day
Tuesday March 20: Practice day
Wednesday March 21: UCI Oceania Continental Championships
Thursday March 22: Cruiser classes
Friday March 23: 20-inch classes
Saturday March 24: Championship day
Sunday March 25: Reserve race day
Riders who wish to race in elite classes at the 2018 national championships need to ensure that they have not entered any age group, i.e. Challenge, Cruiser and or Masters events at the UCI sanctioned rounds of the 2018 BMXA National Series, where elite classes are offered.
Rounds one (Penrith), two (Frankston) and four (Nerang) are all UCI sanctioned events. Therefore, if you have already entered these events, but have not entered in an elite class, you will be ineligible to race in any elite class at the national championships.
Conversely, if you have already entered elite classes for the UCI sanctioned rounds of the national series, you MUST race elite at the national championships.
The technical guide for the national championships will be available closer to the event.
Packages begin from as little as $1,399.00, which can include up to seven nights twin share accommodation and return airfares. Please note, that travel packages are not set and can be tailored to individual needs.
FC Sports and events are also able to tailor hire car or private bus transfers as needed. A handy addition for those that want to explore the region a little more, or who are staying a little out of town in Bunbury.
The 2018 BMX Australia National Championships will be held from Monday March 19, 2018 to Sunday March 25, 2018 at Bunbury BMX Club, Western Australia.
