The 2018 UCI BMX World Championships are set be held from June 5-9 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the largest city of the nation and the largest in the Caspian Sea and Caucasus region.
One of the fastest developing cities in the world, Baku sees their old world meet the progress of the new and has been described as a mix of Paris and Dubai.
Since 2016 the city has hosted the European Formula 1 Grand Prix, and each year hosts the Tour d’Azerbaijan as part of the UCI Europe Tour. This year, they add the BMX worlds to their list of events, and it isn’t set to disappoint.

In 2018 BMX Australia will not be providing a travel package for riders. This is due to the high cost of group bookings to the region. Riders wishing to attend the event should speak with their own travel agent, who will be able to secure a more competitive price on an individual basis.
This also means that there will not be a designated Australian team hotel, as in previous years. However all BMXA staff will be located in one hotel, with the details to be communicated closer to the event.
Australian residents are eligible for an e-visa for Azerbaijan, which is issued within three (3) working days online. The fee is $23 USD.
A single entry visa is valid for 30 days, and the expiry date on your passport should be at least three (3) months later than the expiry date of the e-Visa. You must upload a copy of your passport as a .jpg file during the application process.
There are three easy steps to applying for your visa: 1) Apply; 2) Payment; 3) Download your visa (or confirmation via email).
