The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) have released the schedule for the 2018 BMX World Championships, which take place from June 5-9 in Baku, Azerbaijan – Take a look.

In total there will be 102 Australian riders taking part in the event. Of the Aussie contingent 87 will be racing in challenge classes, for ages from five right through to 50 plus. There will also be a further 15 riders in the junior and senior elite class racing.

Those heading to Baku to take part in the event should take time to read over the schedule. In addition to the schedule, the UCI also released a full entry list for the event. YOU CAN SEE THAT HERE.

Saturday June 2, gives challenge riders and spectators a fantastic opportunity to check out the track with a track walk from 4pm – 5pm.

The following day (Sunday June 3) is a practice day for all Aussie challenge riders with the UCI allocating the time slot of 8:30am – 10am for the Australian team.

Monday June 4, the practice times are flipped with Aussie riders given the time slot of 1:15pm – 2:45pm.

**Don’t forget that on Saturday (June 2) and Sunday (June 3) you will need to head to the Australia Registration Zone (ARZ) to pick up your Registration plate, wristbands and any outstanding uniform items.**

The (ARZ) will open at the following times:

  • Saturday June 2: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Sunday June 3: 7:00am – 8.30am

Now for the important stuff… the racing!

The 2018 UCI BMX World Championships officially kick into gear on Tuesday June 5 with challenge classes taking to the track. They will occupy centre stage from that day until Thursday June 7. Following that, attention will turn to the championship classes.

For a rundown of the racing schedule, please see below:

TUESDAY JUNE 5

  • All Cruiser classes racing – 33 Australian riders
  • Team areas are open from 7:30am (close 1 hour following end of racing)
  • Warm up is from 8:30am – 9:20am (only for those riders racing on the day)
  • 9:30am: Racing begins (NOTE: 3:30PM AEST FOR AUSSIE FANS)

WEDNESDAY JUNE 6 

  • 20-inch male and female aged 12 and younger – 33 Australian riders
  • Team areas are open from 7:30am. (close 1 hour following end of racing)
  • Warm up is from 8:30am – 9:20am (only for those riders racing on the day)
  • 9:30am: Racing begins (NOTE: 3:30PM AEST FOR AUSSIE FANS)

THURSDAY DAY JUNE 7 

  • 20-inch male and female aged 13 and older – 46 Australian riders
  • Team areas are open from 7:30am
  • Warm up is from 8:30am – 9:20am (only for those riders racing on the day)
  • 9:30am: Racing begins (NOTE: 3:30PM AEST FOR AUSSIE FANS)
  • 4pm – 5:25pm: Men elite Group A practice
  • 5:30pm – 6:55pm: Men elite Group B practice
  • 7pm – 8:25pm: Junior men practice
  • 8:30pm – 9:55pm: Women’s junior and elite practice

FRIDAY DAY JUNE 8

**NOTE: Team areas open at 3pm and are available to CHAMPIONSHIP riders only** 

  • 4pm – 4:55pm: Women’s junior and elite practice
  • 5pm – 5:55pm: Junior men practice
  • 6pm – 6:55pm: Men elite Group B practice
  • 7pm – 7:55pm: Men elite Group A practice
  • 8:40pm: Racing begins (2:40am AEST for Aussie at home)
  • 11pm: Expected finish time (5am AEST for Aussie fans at home

    The race order for Friday is as follows:
  • Junior Men
  • Junior Women
  • Men Elite
  • Women Elite

SATURDAY DAY JUNE 9

**NOTE: Team areas open at 5:50pm and are available to CHAMPIONSHIP riders only**

  • 7:20pm – 7:40pm: women’s junior and elite practice for those qualified
  • 7:40pm – 8pm: Junior men’s practice for those qualified
  • 8pm – 8:20pm: Elite men’s practice for those qualified
  • 8:40pm: Racing begins (2:40am AEST for Aussie at home)
