Elite BMX rider, Joey Graham might have something up his sleeve for this Nationals.

It was surprising, entertaining and downright amusing. Etched in our memory, a spectacular moment that will be remembered as the highlight of the 2017 BMX Australia National Championships.

Joey Graham was gunning for it in the third Moto of the Men’s Elite class event at the Sleemans Sports Complex. Going up against Olympian Anthony Dean, Joey finished the first straight in 7th position and as he hit the start of the second, he decided to perform a thrilling backflip which sent the crowd in a cheering frenzy.

“I’d been thinking about doing it for a while, especially at training and the weeks leading up to it,” Graham said.

His intentions were purely for the entertainment of the spectators and he knew that the kids would love to see a bit of freestyle.

“I told my mum and friends who didn’t believe me but yeah, it was just a bit of fun.”

The Hills BMX club rider won’t be going to the National Series around Australia but will definitely be rocking up to the Championships in the Western Australian paradise of Bunbury.

When asked if he will be doing something different this year, maybe a front flip? He laughed saying, “I am thinking about it, depends how I’m feeling getting back into training.”
Nationals Entries are closing at 11pm AEDT THIS FRIDAY, February 9. Don’t miss out on the biggest BMXA event of the year, which kicks off from March 19 to 25.
