The BMX Australia National Championships was held over six days at the Bunbury BMX Club, Western Australia in 2018. From March 19-25 Australia’s top riders will descend on the city of Bunbury, located 180km south of Perth.

It was the first of two events to be held in WA, with BMX Australia formalising a partnership with the WA State Government to host the national titles in both 2018 and 2021.

Next year’s event sees both the state government, through Tourism WA, and the City of Bunbury partner with the event. It will be the first time that the national titles have been held in WA since 2009.

Extraordinary experiences await you in every region of this vast and diverse State, while the varied climate – Mediterranean conditions in the south through to the northern tropics – means you’ll always find summer somewhere in WA. You’ll see the beauty and grandeur of WA’s ancient landscape at pristine beaches, rugged gorges, unique rock formations, towering forests, secluded waterfalls and the world’s largest wildflower collection. Other unique Western Australian experiences await in the cosmopolitan city of Perth, with unforgettable cultural and wildlife encounters, vibrant events, exquisite wine and food, and more.

Australia’s South West
Surfing, swimming, snorkelling. Here you’ll find world-class food and wine, beautiful beaches, surfing, cave systems, tall tree forests, whale-watching, wildflowers and the famous wine region of Margaret River. As one of only 36 bio-diversity hotspots on Earth, the South West has thousands of plant species found nowhere else in the world.

The South West is world famous for its spectacular coastline and magnificent surf and swimming beaches. At Prevelly, you can follow in the footsteps of the world’s best surfers who flock to the perfectly named Surfers Point for the annual Drug Aware Margaret River Pro championship. For more tranquil conditions, you’ll find some of Australia’s top swimming spots at Dunsborough, Denmark and Albany. Witness the wonders beneath the water through shipwreck diving, or you can stay dry at the Busselton Jetty Underwater Observatory.

World-class wine and fresh local produce. Home to six distinct wine regions including world-famous Margaret River, the South West also serves up some of Australia’s best ‘paddock to plate’ fresh produce. Enjoy fresh marron, trout, venison, chocolates, cheeses, cherries, boutique beers and crisp ciders as well as the rare black truffle – more of them are produced in Manjimup than anywhere else in Australia.

The City of Bunbury – where city amenities and a country lifestyle come together.

Bunbury is one of the fastest-growing regional cities in Australia and has been dubbed the second capital city of Western Australia.

Located in the South West of Western Australia about 180 kilometres south of Perth, Bunbury is a beautiful place to live, work or visit and has something for everyone.

First gazetted in 1841, the City of Bunbury is now the commercial and residential heart of the booming South-West region of the state.

Bunbury’s population is now estimated at more than 33,000 and continues to grow steadily at an annual rate of 2%. The Greater Bunbury region has approximately 80,000 residents and it is estimated this will increase to approximately 100,000 by 2031.

The quality of life in Bunbury is by far one of its biggest attractions, offering residents a variety of facilities, schools, shops, nightlife and beaches which are all within easy reach.

It has everything a family needs including public and private primary and secondary schools, tertiary education – which is offered through the South West Institute of Technology and Edith Cowan University – and a range of medical services located at South West Health Campus.

The City of Bunbury will continue to develop, grow and improve thanks to these attributes and the massive potential for investment and growth in our region.
