Accredited officials are required to be financial members of AusCycling
When your current BMXA membership is due for renewal (volunteer or riding), you will receive an email advising how to re-new as an AusCycling member.
As an accredited official you will be required to at least be a Non-Rider member of AusCycling.
An accredited official is required to be a member of a Club. You may join as many Clubs as you like although one Club will need to be nominated as your primary club for the purposes of voting.
Current Coaching Accreditation
Your current officiating accreditation will continue in the short term. At some time during 2021, it will be moved into an equivalent AusCycling accreditation with the same expiry date.
You will be given plenty of notice and advice as to what (if anything) is required.
You need to continue to ensure your membership, accreditation and WWCC are current and kept up to date to be covered by AusCycing insurance when you officiate.
Under AusCycling there will be a new officiating education pathway which will offer officiating and higher level commissaire accreditations. The new accreditations will be rolled out over the upcoming months and during 2021.
The BMXA Club Officials accreditation will continue under AusCycling, recognising that BMX Clubs require accredited officials for not only club racing but also training sessions, including gates practice. The BMX Club Course has been updated and forms the first step for AusCycling BMX officials in the Officiating pathway.
By the end of 2020, an AusCycling Regional Commissaire accreditation will be available. It will replace the current BMXA State Official accreditation and permit ease of accreditation across the AusCycling disciplines by having modules of common content and well as discipline specific and practical assessments.
National level commissaire accreditations and how they will work, will be reviewed during 2021.
The AusCycling Accredited Officials pathway is aimed to facilitate ease of becoming an AusCycling official or commissaire across more than one discipline and will be ongoing and evolving as AusCycling itself evolves.
Reaccreditation will still be required and will continue unchanged in the short term.
At some time during 2021, re-accreditation will start to occur into one of the new AusCycling Courses. Officials will be advised when the new re-accreditation process commences and of its requirements.
New AusCycling systems are being developed for coaches and officials, but initially the current BMXA membership system will continue and show your officiating accreditation and screenings, courses attended etc.
Your officials accreditation data will be moved to the new AusCycling system sometime before the end of 2020. Until this happens, your existing BMXA digital card will show your officials accreditations and valid officials will appear on the BMXA website and App.
Officials with current memberships, WWCC and accreditations are covered by AusCycling insurance.
New AusCycling officials clothing being issued during 2021. Prior to being issued, please continue to wear your BMXA or State issued polos at events.
Information regarding the AusCycling Officials education pathway will be available on the AusCycling website under “Get Involved”. Please make sure you read communications that come out and that you check the AusCycling website regularly.
We appreciate that change can take a little bit of getting used to, but officials’ education and new accreditations under AusCycling will increase opportunities for you as an official. Alternatively you may wish to simply continue what you are currently doing, either option will be available to you.
Codes of Conduct and Behaviour
AusCycling will have a number of codes regarding behaviour, child safety, and members protection. These will be available on the AusCycling website from November 1.
The AucCycling website will have officials information similar to the BMXA website.
Please visit the website regularly to keep abreast of officiating in AusCycling. How to contact the Officials Education Team will be advised on the website.
