The Tales from the Berm by BAD BOY gives you coverage from around the country, as riders took to a track to consume their healthy dose of BMX. READ ON!

There weren’t many events around the country over the weekend, but the various club nights on Friday gave just as much and as soon as a gate drops, the riders are just as happy.

Enjoy the coverage as riders attended to their weekly rituals with a bit of Christmas spirit.


 Caboolture BMX Club – 2018 Series 2, Rnd 9

 Queensland’s Caboolture BMX Club held the ninth round of their series-two club night with over 50 riders taking part in the action.

Getting their BMX fix were the 12 riders from the participation classes aptly named the Anacondas (5 yrs & under), the Carpet Snakes (6 yrs) and the Tiger Snakes (7 yrs). Also racing was Luke Edwards and Kayden Gardiner in the mini wheeler races.

On the competitive side of things, there were a handful of Caboolture riders who had a stellar round on their home track.

Taking control of their class and crossing the line first every time was:

  • Chloe Hart (8-11 girl’s)
  • Harry Schmelzkorpf (8-year’s)
  • Ashley Putt (9-year’s)
  • Aiden Van Bladel (10-year’s)
  • Luke Harris (12 year’s)
  • Alec Begg (30+ open wheel)

Making the trip into unknown territory were Suncoast Hinterland riders, Nathan Street (open men invitation) and Craig Jones (40+ novice) who both came out on the top of their respective podiums.

 Cairns BMX Club – Season 2 Rnd 15

Continuing with the Queensland clubbies coverage, the Cairns BMX Club had some BMX action providing nearly 100 riders with their Pump and Pedals club night including a special Christmas theme.

Once again, the participation classes led the way with 39 riders living, learning and loving BMX. Joining them were the 20-inch and cruiser competitive classes who also there to take part in the evening’s festivities.

Getting the job done and clean sweeping their respective classes was Jack Kelly in the 13-14 year’s and Owen Barden in the 17+ men.

A special mention needs to go to Caleb Harris in the 9-10 year’s class. Harris travelled all the way from his home club in South Australia (The Cove BMX Club) to compete, and did well to pick up the 3-spot on the podium.

Byford BMX Club – Rnd 2

Across to the other side of the country, the Byford BMX Club in WA was also out and about holding a race night for riders to get their BMX fix.

There were 50 entries recorded from mini wheelers to 18+ and there were some outstanding results. This included:

  • Zac McDonald (8-boy’s)
  • Ronan Lander (10-boy’s)
  • Brody Barwick (11-boy’s)
  • Brock Williamson (13-boy’s)
  • Jeremy Wilson (18+)

Pine Rivers BMX Club – S2 Rd10

The last event on the agenda for this week’s Tales from the Berm is at the Pine Rivers BMX Club in Queensland. Over 100 riders took to the gate and the results speak for themselves.

The clean sweepers include:

  • Liam Hilliam (14+ invitational men)
  • Tate Hawkins (junior expert)
  • Brodie Gooch (junior cruiser)
  • Grant Cooper (14+ open wheeler men novice)
  • Jed Lillicrap (9 year’s)
  • Brayden Lawrence (11 year’s)
  • Lachlan Albury (12 year’s)
  • Lily Schofield (8-13-year girl’s)
