Expressions of Interest for volunteer officials at BMX Australia’s 2018 National Series and Championships are still open, everything from commentary to berms, staging and managing is still on the table!
Australia has a great number of volunteers whose experience is vital for BMXA events to run smoothly. Not only do you have the satisfaction of making these events such a successful time for our riders, but you also have the opportunity to work alongside a great team of dedicated individuals.
But putting into events as a volunteer isn’t all staging, starting and standing on berms. Among our membership there is a wealth of BMX knowledge and expertise, and plenty of those who can TALK.
So, for those with the gift of the gab, the commentary tower should be your next point of call.
If you have a strong in-depth knowledge of our sport and its riders, and you know how to add some flavour to your descriptions, the microphone awaits you. Being the person to excite the crowd during crucial moments and explain nuances of what occurs on track takes a special knack, but is considerably rewarding.
For those that like to work with the riders, staging, starting and berms are the place for you.
On the ground and in the thick of the action, it really is the best vantage point on the track. You’ll celebrate as riders do well, be there for them when times get tough, but importantly will be responsible for guiding riders old and young, new and old through their on track experience.
If management is your thing, we need team managers too and scorers and registrations officials. Sure, in these positions you won’t be as visible as the on-track crew, or as loud as commentary. But Team Managers play a vital role for riders, and our scorers and registration volunteers are responsible for all the admin on track.
Without them, the event does not go ahead. Treasure these people.
Officials are asked to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for any of the above mentioned positions – CLICK HERE.
EOIs are being sought for both the 2018 BMXA National Championships, which are being held from March 19-24 at the Bunbury BMX Club. The event also incorporates the 2018 UCI Oceania Continental Championships and is supported by the WA state government via Tourism WA, as well as the City of Bunbury.
We’re also looking for EOIs for the 2018 BMXA National Series, which will visit seven Aussie states and territories. National Series actions will begin at the Penrith BMX Club, NSW from February 17-18.

If you’re already heading to these exciting events, why not lend a hand in the running of operations? You won’t be disappointed and you will be an integral part for making the riding experience all the more enjoyable for our members.
