It’s a question that’s often been asked and with the on-going growth in BMX riding the BMXA Technical Committee recently met to consider an appropriate set of guidelines to ensure riders are safe and clubs meet their duty of care requirements.

While we appreciate the guidelines may cause changes to how some clubs run their training nights, accrediting more officials at your club can be done online and at no cost to the member volunteering.

Below are some of the key points from the guidelines.

  • A minimum of 2 officials are required to conduct a gate practice / training session.

  • 1 official would be the gate starter and 1 official would be the track controller with a dedicated first aid attendant also at the session.

  • The gate starter and track controller must hold at least a BMXA Club officials accreditation.

These guidelines apply to all club track and gate night training sessions and are effective immediately.

We’d also like to remind clubs, officials and parents that BMXA can keep a record of your first aid accreditation on your members profile.
