Riders competing for Australia at the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships in Rock Hill, USA will be required to apply for an international riders licence in order to take part in the event.
Following lengthy discussions with Cycling Australia – the national federation for cycling – BMX Australia were unable to have existing licences for Challenge and Cruiser class riders recognised as eligible for the event, as has been the case in previous years.
Consequently, with all opportunities exhausted, it is now compulsory for riders to apply for the Cycling Australia international licence.
Despite this setback, and in the interests of BMXA members, it has been decided that the BMXA team uniforms will be provided to riders at cost price, plus postage. Entry fees will also be passed on at cost price, as has always been the case for the world championships.
In the coming days Aussie riders will all receive an information pack via email with everything they need to know in preparation for the world championships. Key information to be communicated to riders includes:
· Entries and registration for uniforms
· Rider insurance application forms
· Links and information regarding the international licence
· Details of key dates leading up to the event.
The 2017 UCI BMX World Championships will be held from July 25-29 in Rock Hill, USA.
