Kai Sakakibara has finished in seventh place in Santiago del Estero, Argentina overnight at round five of the 2017 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup.
Sakakibara showed great perseverance as he narrowly scraped through several of his races throughout the day to ultimately qualify for the event final.
“The track was really rough and I spent most of the day in the outside lanes, my preparation also wasn’t the best it could have been,” said Sakakibara.
The event was won by Argentinian rider Exequil Torres, followed by fellow countryman Gonzalo Molina in second place and Sylvain Andre from France in third.
The 2017 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will continue tomorrow with the sixth and final round taking place once again in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
Sakakibara will be looking to finish off his 2017 world cup campaign with a solid result and to improve on his seventh-place finish in round five.
“I just need to tidy some things up on the track, I’m confident that I can get a really good result tomorrow if I just fix up a few things here and there.”
