Spending over 20 years in the BMX Australia family is an amazing achievement and this legend is one of our best. Take a look!

We have the chance to celebrate another member of our #BMXAFamily and their outstanding commitment and effort towards the sport we all cherish.

One person in particular who has been a thriving member of the community for over 20 years is well known for his title as ‘Mr BMX’.

Jason Eecen is a Level 2 BMX Official, a Level 1 BMX Coach and also has the role of being the current Executive Officer and Secretary of BMXNT – he is also BMX Australia’s Legend of May!

Volunteering for over 20 years across all five Northern Territory BMX clubs, Eecen dedicates a lot of his time in assisting a number of clubs in the NT to become more connected with the other surrounding clubs in Australia.

Speaking of interstate, Eecen also volunteers at many other events around Australia officiating at events like our 2018 National Championships in Bunbury, Western Australia.

Speaking with Kylee Carter President of BMXNT, Eecen is an enthusiastic volunteer who devotes every moment of his spare time to the BMX in whatever capacity that it requires of him.

“Jason has been instrumental in the development of the sport across the NT and was heavily involved in both the Jingili and Satellite City roof constructions”, Carter said.

“He is very hands on with Jingili and does a lot in an advisory capacity for Satellite.”

Alongside helping around the track, Eecen is also an avid racer and will be competing at the 2018 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan next week. (June 5-9)

Racing in the 50+ Cruiser class, Eecen is looking forward to representing Australia on the world stage alongside 101 other awesome Aussies. Check out those riders + more info HERE!

Well done Jason, you thoroughly deserve this recognition and we can’t wait to cheer you on in Baku alongside the rest of our Aussies taking on the world.

Other exciting news making its way to the Northern Territory is the third round of our National Series at Satellite City BMX Club (June 23-24). Entries close June 3 so get cracking and CLICK HERE for all your information.

We love supporting not only our riders on the track but individuals like Jason who put in the countless hours to help around their local club… or state.

If you know of anyone in your local area who deserves this sort of recognition, don’t hesitate to get in contact with us by emailing us at news@bmxaustralia.com.au OR by messaging us on our Facebook page.
