A juicy grant from SportAUS is now open for application and BMXA clubs around the country should be filling in the forms as soon as possible, before it closes on February 18.

The aim of the program is to encourage getting inactive people moving in their local community as well as building awareness and understanding on the importance of physical activity. Overall, SportAUS (formerly known as the Australian Sports Commission) wants to help organisations get Australians moving and make the country the world’s most active and healthy nation.

All your club needs to do is come up with a project or plan to help boost new members and participation in your community. By filling out the application, SportAUS could be sending up to $250,000 to help support your club.

The Ride In2BMX program is the perfect way to help boost your club’s numbers and increase participation in the area. What’s more, if you organise a Ride In2BMX event following the national series stage in your state, BMXA will provide financial support in the form of online advertising.

Areas that SportAUS are looking to improve on are the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people living in rural and remote communities, people with disability and young women between the ages of 3-17.

BMXA’s CEO Martin Shaw supports this initiative by SportAUS and urges clubs to get the ball rolling before applications close.

“We encourage clubs to make the most of this opportunity alongside planning a Ride In2BMX event, as this falls into the eligibility of the grant and can also boost membership numbers and participation at your club,” Shaw said.

“It is also a great way to help people get their 30-minute fix of activity a day.”
