Can parents assist sprockets in staging?

No. As staging will be one of the busiest areas access has been restricted to those that must be in the area. Instead officials will be briefed to ensure that any sprockets that need assistance in staging will receive it.

What block will I/my child be racing in?

Rider blocks will be released in the riders briefing closer to the event. However you will be able to see what day you or your child is competing on the schedule.

Where can we set up pit tents?

State associations will have their pit tents set up directly behind staging. Behind those on the link road is where personal pit tents can be set up.

When can we set up pit tents?

From Monday April 24.

Will pit tents be provided by BMX Australia?

No. State teams will provide their own tents. Private pit tents are BYO.

Is Wednesday April 26 an open practice day?

Yes. Any rider who has registered to compete in the 2017 BMX Australia National Championships may participate in the practice session on Wednesday April 26 between 8:00am and 1:00pm. From 1:00pm – 1:45pm only A/AA Pro men, Pro women, Junior Elite and Elite riders will be permitted on track.

Will bike security be provided?

No. Competitors are responsible for their own equipment.

Is there a close date to book for the 2017 BMX Australia Awards Dinner?

Tickets will be sold until Friday April 21, or until the allocation is exhausted.

Will there be sufficient disabled access to the venue?

Yes.

How do you pre-order merchandise?

Log into your BMX Australia account online and navigate to the merchandise sales.

Merchandise sales do not list children’s sizes, is there a size chart available?

Children’s sizes are not available for pre-order, however will be available for purchase in the BMX Village Expo area at the event.

A size chart for items currently available online will be published in the coming days.

Why are there not races for Crackerjacks and Dynamites?

What about a pre-nationals race?

There is no official pre-nationals event. However BMX Queensland are running the ‘Aussie Assault’ on Saturday April 22, and the final round of the BMXA Grands Assault will be run on Wednesday April 26. Both are a fantastic opportunity to race prior to the national titles.

Can you enter an age cruiser class as well as an elite 20-inch class?

No. The national championships are run as a UCI event, and therefore are run in accordance with the UCI rulebook.

A rider cannot enter elite and cruiser, as elite is a championship class and cruiser is a challenge class. The rulebook states that a rider cannot compete in more than one of those classes.

In a reduced size event (8 or less), will all riders win a race plate or will one get dropped?

This decision is currently a point of discussion between the Technical Committee and BMX Australia Board. A final decision will be communicated in the riders briefing closer to the event.

I/my child are racing in our 10th/20th consecutive national championships will BMX Australia by recognising this?

Yes. Riders who are competing in their 10th or 20th consecutive national championships will be recognised. If you are attending the awards dinner you will receive your memento at that event, otherwise it will be posted to your place of residence.

You must notify BMX Australia if you believe you are to be recognised for one of these awards.
