Across the 38 races throughout the afternoon, 20 riders from Nerang finished in the top three, six of these riders coming away victorious. The home club truly made most of their home ground advantage!

Former world champion Kira Hill came back from a tough fall during the second moto to win the final of the 16 years girl’s in an intense contest against Lilyanne Croft from Westside and Julie Urben Di Giaimo from Lilydale.

Hill has been working extremely hard and proved she’s back to winning ways ahead of nationals next month. Check out her final below.

Hill was joined in the winner’s circle by fellow Nerang riders Callum Howarth after a dominant display from the current national champion in the 15 boys, Cheralee White in the 13yrs girls, Ashley Willard in 17-24yrs women’s cruiser, Harrison Regan, who blitzed the 9yrs boy’s and Dylan Dauth, who like Regan, proved too strong by dominating his the 10 boys’.

White’s final was one of the most thrilling finals of day, with the top three battling from start to finish. White managed to oust former world champion Portia Eden by .4 of a second and Charlotte Guy from Ashmore by .6 of a second in a final that the locals loved.

There were a few riders who managed to maintain their winning form from the first national series round in Shepparton, with world number four Isabelle Schramm, Townsville speedster Ashleigh Gunn and Brody Wilmott from Macarthur all making it two from two in the national series.

One thing that hasn’t changed since last year is the fierce rivalry between Noah Elton of Terrigal and Josh Jolly of Ballarat-Sebastopol. This rivalry has been bubbling for years and this year in the 14yrs boy’s it looks like it won’t fade away as Elton grabbed the win ahead of Jolly.

Jolly will still maintain the number one spot ahead of Elton on the national series leader board, but this tense encounter means next month’s national championships will be a race like no other.
