In testing times, the #BMXAfamily has assembled to help in one way or another, with Lake Macquarie BMX Club hosting a fundraiser meet for the rural fire service, thus this week’s edition of the Tales from the Berm delves into this great initiative.
Eyes turned to Shepparton BMX Club for racing on the weekend with the first round of the national series on Friday attracting over 300 riders from across the country, followed by the first world cup event in Australia since 2009 taking place over the weekend.
You can read about the national series HERE and the world cup HERE.
However, it was the camaraderie of the northern NSW BMX clubs that caught our attention. Lake Macquarie played host to this fundraiser, with all money raised going towards the rural fire service. Clubs from the around the area all got around the fantastic fundraiser with riders coming from Tamworth City BMX Club, Maitland BMX Club and San Remo BMX Club all attending and contributing to the fundraiser.
Regardless of the size of these clubs, it was wonderful to see clubs, communities and people unite to help those who need it in these demanding times for the entire country,
The weather was not favourable on Saturday as Lake Macquarie reached temperatures of 42 degrees, nevertheless many riders persevered through the heart and raced, with many trying to get as much practice ahead of the NSW state series round one at Bathurst this weekend. Even a handful of sprockets took part in the day of fun!
In total, the clubs came together and raised close to $500 for the rural fire service, a great achievement!
