The Play by the Rules Award will be expanding to two categories in 2019. The first going to local community sport and recreation clubs, while the other is focused on state/territory sport and recreation associations.

If your club or state organisation has done some great work to make your sport safer, fairer and/or more inclusive, enter the 2019 Play by the Rules Award, and gain some national recognition. The award is open to any state or local sport and/or recreation organisation.

The criteria of the award can be seen below.

  • Successful implementation of an initiative that promotes fairness, integrity, respect and/or positive behaviour in sport, and/or
  • successful implementation of an initiative that supports well-being and safety of people in sport, and/or
  • successful implementation of an initiative that leads to under-represented groups being more involved in sport, and
  • evaluation of the initiative undertaken demonstrating the overall outcome.

The initiative that you have chosen to highlight as part of your nomination must have started before June 30, 3018. Demonstrations of milestones and results from that initiative must also be included.

The winner of the awards will be announced on September 23 and a representative of the club or state association will have all expenses paid for as they travel to Sydney to attend the 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Sport Forum on October 17.

The winners will be featured on Play by the Rules and celebrated on social media.
