A wrap of the weekend that was as we look at some of the events that occurred here at home – including the first weekend of our annual membership drive, Ride In2 BMX + two Aussies star overseas!

It was a weekend of varied action for Aussie BMXer’s as racing occurred domestically, while NSW clubs opened their doors to host the inaugural round of BMX Australia supported Ride IN2 BMX events.

Abroad, Aussies Lauren Reynolds and Izaac Kennedy were hitting home runs at the USA BMX Gator Nationals in Oldsmar, Florida as they both made a trip to the podium on each day of racing.

Let’s get into it…

Australia’s newest club, Casey BMX in Victoria had their greatly named event, “The Wolfdene” on Sunday February 25, which brought together over 200 riders for a day of exciting racing at their base in Cranbourne.

There were floods of great results over the day with Elite Men’s rider Brandon Te Hiko from Geelong BMX Club having a flawless day to win every lap in the Men’s Superclass.

Other special mentions include Stephanie Alexander from Knox BMX Club who won the 12 Expert girls as well as Amber Rossborough from Frankston BMX who won the 15 girls.

Across the other side of the country, Western Australia’s Southside BMX Club dropped the gates on one of their own events on Saturday February 24 and had a total of 89 riders hitting the track – an awesome local get together.

Southside riders also had success with Jett Smith winning all his moto’s in the 13-14 years and Taylor Campbell in the Open 20″ Inch class. Fellow WA club Westside had their race night on Friday February 23 with a great turn out of over 100 riders attacking the track.

The great state of WA also saw Cockburn BMX Club riders get on track in the week just gone for their weekly night on the track, as did Hills BMX Club, Wanneroo BMX Club and Southern Districts.

No doubt all this racing in the west will be helping the locals prepare for a highly anticipated National Championships event, which will be held at Bunbury BMX Club in WA from March 19-25.

Other club racing on around Australia included Atherton BMX Club in Queensland.

Among those clubs opening their door to new members were Castle Hill BMX Club, Batemans Bay BMX Club, Manning Valley BMX Club, Terrigal BMX Club, Manly Warringah BMX Club and Macarthur BMX Club, with special mentions to the Hawkesbury Hornets BMX Club sharing this awesome post below!
