Australia’s top tier riders competed in rounds three and four of the 2019 UEC BMX European Cup over the Easter weekend with some notching some impressive results.

Southlake/Illawarra siblings, Kai and Saya Sakakibara, were the pick of the bunch with Saya finding second place on Saturday, before coming seventh the next day.

Saya’s older brother Kai was running hot on Saturday with some notable results in the moto’s and qualification rounds, before unfortunately coming down in the final finishing in eighth place. He couldn’t replicate his performance from the previous day and bowed out in the semi’s in sixth place.

The other Australian results from the weekend were as follows:

  • Brandon Te Hiko: eighth in ¼
  • Joshua McLean: fifth in 1/8
  • Shane Rosa: sixth in 1/8
  • Matt Krasevskis: fifth in 1/16
  • Hayden Fletcher: sixth in 1/16
  • Jye Hombsch: sixth, seventh and tenth in motos

Sunday

  • Matt Krasevskis: fifth in ¼
  • Jye Hombsch: sixth in 1/8
  • Anthony Dean: seventh in 1/8
  • Shane Rosa: eighth in 1/8
  • Hayden Fletcher: fifth in 1/16
  • Brandon Te Hiko: sixth in 1/16

(Unsure how Josh McLean went in round 4)
