For the first time ever, the national championships will kick off with an event for men’s and women’s superclass riders, a men’s 30+ masters 20” event and a 30+ masters open wheel event for women.

Any sprocket entered in the nationals can register their interest to be partnered with a superclass competitor for the afternoon.

Pairs will be announced on Tuesday May 21 with sprockets able to meet their superclass rider the next day and follow their fortunes throughout the Pro Spectacular.

The 16 superclass finalists (8 men and 8 women) will then share a lap around the Shepparton track with their newest fan after the event’s final, before signing autographs and being available for photos with the lucky sprockets and their families. So don’t forget your bikes and riding gear!

Local Shepparton BMX Club star Hayden Fletcher, the current leader of the BMXA BAD BOY National Series superclass standings, said it was an opportunity not to be missed for the sprockets and the senior riders alike.

“It’s awesome to have the opportunity to have kids be around us and look up to us,” Fletcher said.

“I know how much I looked up to older riders when I was that age and I could only have dreamed of being able to hang out with someone like Khalen Young for the day at nationals.

“For us to be able to do that and hopefully inspire these sprockets is great for everyone.”
