COVER PIC: Get Snapt
Sensational racing accompanied by a fantastic atmosphere, the first stage of this year’s national series was a resounding success. From the track, to the food and even the weather, once the event was over the message was clear – when’s the next one?!
Before we get into stage 2 at the Westside BMX Club in Perth, a run through of last weekend has to be done and what better way to kick it off than with the results.
On a hot Sydney weekend, more than 500 riders made their way to the Sydney Olympic Park precinct to get their share of national series action. Saturday saw the challenge classes compete in three motos and joining them were the superclass who went all the way through to their finals completing the first round of their 2019.

Sunday saw superclass begin their second round while the challenge class continued their first-round saga. By midday, the gate dropped 39 times to decide who would stand on the top of their respective podiums and they were cheered all the way home with an encouraging crowd trackside.

Helping to capture the weekend was the 2019 BMXA Official Photographer – Get Snapt. Mel’s camera snapped hundreds of images over the weekend and they are now available on her website!

This year the national series has had some minor adjustments, each stop is now known as a stage, there are multiple rounds and new qualification rules.
Something you might not know about is the addition of the BMXA Information and Suggestion Tent!
Over the weekend, the BMXA staff were available for members to voice their opinions, express their concerns and make some suggestions on how the organisation can best assist its most valuable asset – you!
The next time the team will be free for a chat is at the 2019 BMXA BAD BOY National Championships at the Shepparton BMX Club on May 20. But if you want your questions answered now, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at email@example.com.
Even though there have been some new additions to BMXA’s events, there are still some fan favourites which will continue to occur. One in particular is the free coaching clinics led by BMXA’s National Coaching Manager, Luke Madill.
For all aspiring and current coaches, this is the perfect opportunity to learn some new skills. Madill will be at every single stage of the national series, so head to BMXA’s website – HERE and sign up now!
It wasn’t an event without the valuable riders who raced over the weekend, and while they got amongst the action, they also captured their time as well.

Finally, we would like to give a massive thank you to the dedicated volunteers who make these events what they are. The officials, the commentators, the track maintenance and many more.
Your time, effort and commitment is appreciated and we look forward to seeing you put your hands up in the future.
With that being said, all eyes are now looking to stage 2 at the Westside BMX Club in Western Australia on March 2-3.
See you there!
