Heading to this year’s world championships in Baku, Azerbaijan? Here are some key details that will help set you up for the trip, straight from the UCI Competition Guide!

The 2018 Competition Guide for this year’s UCI BMX World Championships is now available. Summarised in the document is information needed by National Federations for participation at the event. Please note, this docuement may be revised from time to time.


Importantly for Australian riders and families making the trip to the event, note the following key points:

The UCI reserves the right to change the race format…for challenge and masters riders in the event of unforeseen circumstances (e.g. severe weather). They can also change the format for these categories in the case of a high number of challenge entries. In this case, the UCI might decide to change the race format from 3 rounds of Motos to either 2 or 1 round, prior to the event beginning. Further details are in the document.

Information on final classification and ties are included…These items are highlighted in red and should be read by all prospective participants.

Registration opening and closing times can be found in there…entries will open May 3, 2018 at 12:00 CET, closing on 17 may, 2018 at 12:00 CET for challenge riders. A riders list for all categories will be published on May 18, 2018. BMX Australia will provide further details on opening and closing dates to ensure all Aussie riders are entered correctly and on time.

Please note that challenge riders with wrist bands will have access ONLY to the Challenge grandstands. Championship riders with wrist bands will have access to the Championship grandstands.
